Luigi Cinque surprises us once again with his personal road that mixes ethnic music, jazz, contemporary rhythms and poetry. Luna Reverse is an album that speaks of the Mediterranean, Salvador Bahia do Brasil, Berlin, Palermo, and Buenos Aires, and it does so with a personal feel and a chromatic quality, just “...like a traveller in the mix of the resonance of places and non-places across the world.” At the same time Luna Reverse is a jazz album; a chant from the West and the East; a contemporary score; a romance novel; a Shaman dialect/chant.

Yet it is also a work that leads to an important reflection on the music of today and on a way of composing that seeks to give order to today’s musical ’cut-up’: the current formula that is used to composed music today. Luigi Cinque has been a recognized maestro for years, especially in Europe, in the genre of world music. This time, however, he is undoubtedly recognized as the absolute maestro of the contamination of musical styles in world music. At this point, we can speak of a musical style that is “the Luigi Cinque style.” Behind the music in the Luna Reverse album is the Hypertext O’rchestra: a musical formation that is made up of an organic variety of international artists that cross over many musical languages and that is completely characterized by a post-contamination style that mixes contemporary music, jazz, ethnic music and new technologies. On this occasion, the small orchestra is composed of one of Brazil’s most important instrumentalists of “cavaquinho”, Armandinho, who opens a rhythmic dialogue with Efren Lopez’s oud guitar, the violin of Alex Balanescu, the mandola of Mauro Palmas, the guitar of Mauro Di Domenico, the piano-playing of Sal Bonafede and Luigi Cinque, the sounds of live electronic music, the strings of the Balanescu Quartet, and the percussion instruments of Luizinho do Gege, a mix of Mediterranean rhythms and an archaic and Shamanistic dialect. It is a musical blend that, as has often happened with the works of Luigi Cinque (Tangerine Cafè, Sunaulòs, Sacra Konzert and Passaggi), contain a series of melodic overtures that are destined to influence trends in the ferment of ideas in this unique genre of musical contamination and world music. LUNA REVERSE

Ancora una volta Luigi Cinque ci sorprende sulla strada, tutta personale, tra etnica, jazz, contemporanea e poesia. Luna Reverse è un disco che parla di Mediterraneo, di Bahia, di Berlino, Palermo, Buenos Aires e lo fa con una personale mistura e misura cromatica: “come di un viaggiatore nel mix delle sonorità dei luoghi e dei non luoghi del mondo”. Luna Reverse è allo stesso tempo un disco jazz, è un passaggio etnico, è un canto di oriente occidente, è una partitura contemporanea, è una romanza d’amore, è un dialetto sciamanico. Ma è anche un lavoro che propone una riflessione sulla musica di oggi, un modo di comporre che cerca di mettere ordine al "cut-up" musicale come formula attuale di composizione. Luigi Cinque è da anni un maestro riconosciuto - in Europa soprattutto - del "genere oltre i generi" ma, questa volta, lo fa in punta di piedi come per un fatto definito. Ormai si può parlare in musica di uno “stile Luigi Cinque”. Dietro la musica di Luna Reverse c’è l’Hypertext O’rchestra: formazione storica di LC, ensemble ad organico variabile di artisti internazionali che attraversa i molti linguaggi della musica e si caratterizza per uno stile totale postcontaminato. L’Hypertext è composta, in questa occasione, tra gli altri, da Armandinho forse il più importante strumentista brasiliano di cavaquinho che dialoga con l’oud di Efren Lopez, il violino di Alex Balanescu,le mandole di Mauro Palmas la chitarra di Mauro Di Domenico i pianoforti di Sal Bonafede e Luigi Cinque, il live electronic, gli archi del Balanescu Quartet, le percussioni di Luisinho du Gege, tra samba e canto a lungo Mediterraneo e con un dialetto arcaico e sciamanico. Una mistura che, come spesso avviene con i lavori di LC ( Tangerine Cafè - European Award 2003 - , Sonaulòs, Sacra Konzert e Passaggi ) contiene una serie di sollecitazioni melodico/timbriche destinate a fare tendenza all’interno di quel fermento che è attualmente la musica di frontiera.
